Guide to J&H's Healthy Options

January 02, 2024 · 9 min

Feasters,

Are you looking for a fresh start to the new year? Lucky for you, we've meticulously curated a list of some of our favorite healthy (or at least healthier) bites from 24 of J&H’s culinary concepts - by floor.

Ground Floor:

Yann Couvreur - Homemade Vegan Granola

Made with seasonal, high-quality ingredients, Yann it’s no secret that Yann Couvreur is simply a must for any pastry lover; however, if you’re looking for something a little more, shall we say granola, we can’t help but recommend its Homemade Vegan Granola. Hearty and sweet, it’s the perfect on-the-go snack.

Fit Vibe by Vic - Tres Leches

While traditional tres leches aren’t typically the healthiest dessert on the menu, at J&H’s newest concept, Fit by Vic, that can’t be further from the truth. Not only is this bad boy sugar-free, dairy-free and gluten-free, but it’s also high in protein. Talk about a win-win!

Puffles - Honey Green Tea Drink

Tea has been all the rage recently and lucky for us, Puffles has jumped on the bandwagon to serve a sip that satisfies all our sweet cravings. Blending natural honey and freshly brewed jasmine tea, this tea drink has been linked to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Osso - Tenderloin

All you ravenous carnivores, listen up! We all know that meat is high in protein, but did you know that some cuts are better for you than others? For instance, tenderloins are particularly good options, as they are lower in fat and rich in protein, vitamins and minerals.

J Wong - Peruvian Ceviche

When we are craving something refreshing and light, our first stop is always J Wong. Fresh fish, chopped veggies, leche de tigre? Who can go wrong?

Cicchetti - Capri

When you think about it hard enough, dear Feasters, nearly all of Cicchetti’s cicchettis make a balanced meal - grain, protein, veggie - but the one we consistently find ourselves gravitating toward is the vegetarian-friendly Capri.

La Latina - The Healthy Pabellón Platter

Shhhh… this one is our little secret, as it isn’t necessarily on the printed menu. This health-conscious platter includes everything you could possibly want: shredded beef or chicken, quinoa, black beans, avocado and, if you’re feeling extra adventurous, shredded white cheese on the side. Chef’s kiss

L’Artisane - Mocha Lemonade

Yes, yes, all of L’Artisane’s pastries are vegan (which makes them inherently healthy right?) But if you’re searching for a sweet drink with some cool benefits, try opting for the mocha lemonade. Mocha has been proven to boost metabolism and help with brain function!

Papa - crisp papa

If you’re at a loss for why crisp papa made the list of healthy options, then you clearly haven’t spent enough time at Julia & Henry’s. Papa is the air-fried French fry joint causing major buzz for its guilt-free options. (You can thank us later!)

Luncheria - Ceasar Salad

We’ve all heard the saying “eat your greens;” well at Luncheria, it’s not hard to do… we just order the Ceasar Salad. While this salad sometimes gets a bad rep, between the vitamin C found in the romaine and omega-3s in anchovies, it’s hard to deny that it has some major nutritional value.

OMG Brigadeiros - Vegan Brigadeiro in a Jar

No need to ditch your favorite desserts in the new year! Made with rich dark chocolate, proven to be filled with iron, magnesium, and lots of other vitamins and minerals, OMG Brigadeiros’ Vegan Brigadeiro in a Jar is the perfect sweet treat to curb those chocolate cravings.

Second Floor:

Tacotomia - Mushroom Tacos

If you cannot live without your tacos but are experimenting with “meat-free Mondays” this year, we’ve got you covered! Tacotomia has a few veg-friendly dishes, but the Mole & Mushroom Taco is so good, we’ve started ordering it on the reg.

Rozu - Signature Rozu Poke

Another one of our favorite balanced meals, the Signature Rozu Poke is made up of sushi rice, tuna tartare, sashimi salmon, carrots, seaweed salad, avocado, edamame, cucumbers and ginger served with acevichada and eel sauce. Not only is it healthy and filling, but it also is big enough to split into two meals.

La Petit Cuisine - The Veggie

Who said crepes can only be sweet? La Petit Cuisine features a whole list of savory options, one being The Veggie, which, as the name suggests, is filled with veggies. (There’s also some vegan mozzarella in there too, in case you were wondering.)

Michy’s Chicken Shack - Chopped Salad with Chicken

A classic staple, the chopped salad is filled with nutrients. Avocados? A source of vitamins C, E, K and B6. Radishes? They are rich in calcium, vitamin C, riboflavin, the list goes on. But the best part of this chopped salad, is the fact you can add some of Michy’s world-famous chicken.

Battubelin - Farinata

Just because you want to be healthier this year, it doesn’t mean you have to cut out all your favorites. The Farinata at Battubelin has a thin crust made with chickpea flour making this gluten-free, low-carb option the perfect pizza substitute.

June - June Classic

Want to know a fun fact about June Burgers? All burgers are made with wagyu beef. This means each burger is packed with mono-saturated fatty acids and essential amino acids that are believed to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s and other conditions. PS: You can also substitute bread for lettuce.

Third Floor:

Hitchihaika - Vegetarian

These little guys are not only busting with flavors from around the world, but they are also brimming with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants we may not be getting on the daily. Lately, The Vegetarian has been our go-to, as we’re doing our best to cut back on the meat this year.

Palmar - Steamed Shrimp Bao Bun

Fluffy, crunchy and simply scrumptious, the steamed shrimp is a healthier alternative to your everyday fried bao bun. Low in calories and high in nutrients, shrimp is known to be anti-inflammatory, meaning it has been shown to help with diabetes, gastrointestinal, renal and skin and eye diseases.

Shimuja - Key Lime Ramen

Finding a vegetarian ramen option can be harder than you think! (Why don’t more places serve veggie broth?) Luckily, Shimuja’s Key Lime Ramen is completely veg-friendly and even offers tofu as a protein option.

Achar - Chickpea Salad Bowl

A little birdie told us that chickpeas are a superfood and ever since, we have been die-hard fans of Achar’s Chickpea’s Salad Bowl. In addition to chickpeas, which are considered both a vegetable and a protein, the bowl includes avocados, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers and papri chips. You can even add a beef or chicken kebab, if you’re wanting a little more protein.

Sankuay - Salgado de Bongos

The only issue we’ve ever had with rice and veggies is that it’s a boring meal… or at least that’s what we thought until we tried Sankuay’s Salgado de Bongos. This rice dish features mixed vegetables that are perfectly sauteed in a wok with soy sauce, garlic and ginger, to make it extra flavorful and delicious.

Mench - Salmon Bowl

Protein? Check. Grain? Check. Healthy fats? Veggies? Nutrition? Check, check, check. Not only does Mensch’s Salmon Bowl literally check all of our health-centric boxes, but it also is one of our all-time favorite dishes we’ve ever had - perhaps anywhere. Oh, and there’s also a chicken option, if salmon isn’t your thing.

Baklava Bakery - Vegan Pistachio Baklava

This chewy, sticky treat might just be our new go-to healthy dessert! Why is that? It's been shown to improve heart health, boost energy levels, aid digestion, help with brain function, and so much more. Oh and we didn't even mention the best part... this one just so happens to be vegan-friendly!

Yabai - Tuna Roll

When it comes to making healthier choices, the simpler the better. Consisting of sushi rice and tuna, the Tuna Roll is a great option for someone looking to increase their protein and omega-3 intake.

And there you have it, Feasters, you’re complete guide to J&H’s healthiest dishes. Now, do tell us, which dish will you be trying first?

Feeling healthy,
